Sunken Treasure - Recipe by Jill Slater
Flowers and veggies sunk under water create buried treasure in the way Mother Nature. This bounty is capsulated in one large container with individual finds enclosed in private vessels. Look closely at the submerged precious objects which are now larger than life when magnified under water. Broccoli florets, large heads of roses and lisianthus are the objects of this visual fortune.

Materials:

Sunken Treasures
  • Large trifle bowl, approximately 8 inches in diameter x 5 to 6 inches deep
  • 8 glass votive cups
  • 2 broccoli florets, 3 purple lisianthus blossoms, 3 heads of open orange roses and 1 orange spray rose
  • Floral preservative
  • Floral clippers
Directions:
Step 1 - With the exception of the spray rose, cut the flowers and broccoli florets approximately 1 to 2 inches in length and insert one blossom inside individual votive cups.

Step 2 - Now stack the flower filled votive cups on their sides inside the trifle bowl.

Step 3 - Gently fill the trifle bowl with water that has been treated with floral preservative.

Step 4 - Cut the orange spray rose to approximately 3-inches in length and float it on top of the water.
