- Ten stems of either gerbera daisies, roses or standard carnations

Step 1 - Soak the floral foam in water that has been treated with floral preservative for approximately 30 minutes. Cut the foam and fill the coffee mug so that the foam comes up about an inch below the rim of the mug.

Step 2 - If using gerbera daisiesăgather their stems in the web of your hand (between your thumb and other fingers), holding them just under their blooms. If right handed, gather the flowers in your left hand and vice-versa. The flowers should tuck neatly into each other. If using carnations or roses, gather the flowers so that their blooms are at the same height. Keep the stems of the flowers straight; do not allow their stems to cross. Try to make a round shape when gathering the blossoms.

Step 3 - Rubber band the stems together and bring the rubber band up just under the blooms. This will make the flowers perky and straight. Now cut the ends of the stems so that that they are about 14-inches in length.

Step 4 - Hold all the stems in a neat bundle and insert the bunch into the center of the floral foam. Now cover the floral foam with moss and tie the ribbon in a bow around the rubber band.
