Decorating with flowers and designing a simple centerpiece is easy when you have a system. This arrangement is based on creating a domed shape with floral foam and then keeping the dome shape when inserting the flowers.
Large headed roses are cut short and then inserted into the floral foam. Making the dome shape with the foam first, makes executing the centerpiece very simple.
Another advantage of this type arrangement is that it lasts a very long time. The short cut roses take up water easily which gives the roses the ability to live longer.
This arrangement can be created with all kinds of fresh cut flowers, try small sunflowers, carnations, dahlias and gerbera daisies too.
Materials:

- 2 bricks floral foam.
- Empty 'Family Size' soup can or other can of similar size. Leave the fun paper label on the can. For a more traditional or elegant look, design the Domed Roses in a 6-inch flower pot that does not have a drainage hole.
- Approximately 12 to 16 stems of large headed roses.
- 5 to 7 stems lemon leaves.
- Floral clippers.
- Floral preservative.
- Knife.

| Directions:
Step 1 - Soak floral foam in water that has been treated with floral preservative for at least 30 minutes.
Step 2 - Cut floral foam to fit interior of the can or flower pot. This piece should fill the pot/can until it's just full.
Step 3 - Cut and insert another section of floral foam to fill the rest of the can/pot. This piece should rise about 2-inches above the rim of the can/pot. With knife, shave this top piece of floral foam into a dome shape. Now fill can/pot with water that has been treated with floral preservative.
Step 4 - Cut the first rose to approximately 4-inches in length and insert it about 1-inch into the center, top of the floral foam.
Step 5 - Cut 3 or 4 more roses slightly shorter than the center rose and insert them closely around the center rose. This will start the dome shape of the centerpiece.
Step 6 - Cut other roses slightly shorter than the first several roses and keep inserting them into the dome shaped foam until all of the floral foam is filled with roses. Remember the dome shape is very important.
Step 7 - Cut the lemon leaves to 4-inch lengths; then insert them around the rim of the can/pot and in between the roses where space provides. Use the leaves of the roses as extra filler foliage if necessary.
