Root, Root, Rootbeer - Recipe by Jill Slater

Materials:

Root, Root, Rootbeer
  • Glass or acrylic beer stein
  • 2 small bags of gold marbles (round or flat), just enough to fill the beer stein
  • 1 glass votive cup
  • 1/3 brick floral foam
  • 10 stems white standard carnations
  • 1/2 yard 2-inch wide gold ribbon
  • 1 novelty straw
  • Floral clippers, scissors, knife and floral food/preservative
Directions:
Step 1 - Soak the foam in water that has been treated with floral preservative.

Step 2 - Cut the floral foam to fit inside the votive cup.

Step 3 - Fill the beer stein 3/4 full with marbles.

Step 4 - Insert the foam-filled votive cup on top of the marbles and then surround it with more marbles, filling the entire beer stein.

Step 5 - Cut the standard carnations to about 4-inches in length.

Step 6 - Insert the flowers into the foam. Start in the center and begin surrounding the center stems with flowers, until a round shape is created.

Step 7 - Finally, tie the ribbon around the rim of the beer stein. Tie it in a knot in what will be the back of the stein. Now insert the novelty straw into the 'root beer.'
