Treat Trick - Recipe by Jill Slater

Materials:

Treat Trick
  • 8-inch diameter clear glass salad bowl
  • 4-inch diameter clear glass condiment bowl
  • Gummy worms, about 4 cups to fill salad bowl
  • Flowers - 3 stems of the following: orange standard carnations, orange spray roses, orange freesia, purple statice, rosemary and lemon leaves
  • Half brick of floral foam
  • Floral clippers, knife, floral food/preservative
Directions:
Step 1 - Soak the floral foam for about 30 minutes in water that has been treated with floral food/preservative.

Step 2 - Cut the foam to fit tightly inside the condiment bowl, fill with water that has been treated with floral food/preservative. The foam should come up about 1-inch above the rim of the container.

Step 3 - Cut the flowers and foliage to about 6-inches in length.

Step 4 - I find the trick to arranging flowers in a round container is to think of the face of a clock: Start with the greenery - The first step is to put the hour and minute hands in the center of your imaginary clock, which is really the center of the container. Next, arrange additional greenery at the quarter hours and then fill in all the hours of the imaginary clock with more greenery. The last step is to add the flowers. This is simple. Follow the same procedure with the flowers as was done with the greenery.

Step 5 - Now, insert the flower arrangement inside the salad bowl. Fill the space between the two bowls with the gummy worms.
