What's Hot? A Floral Teapot - Recipe by Jill Slater

Materials:

A Floral Teapot
  • 1 Teapot
  • Approximately 5 stems each - pink alstroemeria and lavender freesia
  • Optional- 1 rubberband
  • Floral clippers, knife and flower food/preservative
Criss-cross Method Directions:
Step 1 - Fill the teapot with water that has been treated with flower food/preservative.

Step 2 - Cut the stems about an inch longer than the height of the teapot.

Step 3 - Remove any leaves/foliage that will be below the water line.

Step 4 - Criss-cross the stems in the bottom of the teapot. This will make a web to hold the flowers in place.

Rubberbanded Bouquet Directions:
Step 1 - Fill the teapot with water that has been treated with flower food/preservative.

Step 2 - Remove any leaves/foliage that will be below the water line.

Step 3 - If you are right handed, hold the flowers in your left hand (vice-versa if you are left handed). Hold the flowers just under their blooms.

Step 4 - Each flower is added so that the blooms are at the same height. Try to make a round shaped bouquet.

Step 5 - Rubberband the bouquet together and then cut the stems to the height of the teapot.

Step 6 - Check the water level daily and add water treated with flower food/preservative, as needed.
