Love Bunch - Recipe by Jill Slater

Materials:

Love Bunch
  • 12 stems red roses
  • 10 stems white freesia
  • Floral bowl tape or rubberband
  • 1.5 yards 2-inch wide decorative reddish ribbon
  • 2 long straight pins (optional)
  • Short glass vase, approximately 6-inch tall by 6-inches wide
  • 12 stems baregrass
  • 6-inches of narrow gauge wire
  • 1 small handful green moss
  • 1 stem Casa Blanca lily or white Asiatic lily
  • 1 to 2 stems babies breath
  • 2 small rubberbands
  • Floral preservative, scissors and clippers
Directions:
Step 1 - Remove the leaves from the roses and cut them to about 10-inches in length. Do the same to the freesia, plus remove any lateral stems from their main stems.

Step 2 - If you are right handed hold the flowers in your left hand (and vice-versa). Make a round bunch by holding the flowers just under their blooms. The flower heads should all be placed all at the same height. Also, the stems should be straight and not crossing each other. HINT-the flowers surround each other as shown in this diagram.

Step 3 - When all the flowers are used, fasten the bouquet with either a rubberband or floral bowl tape. Rubberband or tape them where your hand was holding their stems.

Step 4 - Lastly, neatly cover the rubberband or tape with decorative ribbon. You may either tie a bow (like you tie a shoe) or use two long straight pins to hold the ribbon in place.

Step 5 - Cut the stems to about 8-inches in length and set the Love Bunch in a vase filled with fresh water and floral preservative.
