Circular Table - Recipe by Jill Slater
Circular TableWhen gathering "round," conserve space by following the lines of the table. Add flair with either a tall and lean flower arrangement or try a low, round design to leave space for elbow room and festive food.

Materials:

  • One, 9-inch round layer cake pan
  • 2 bricks floral foam
  • One, 4-inch diameter x 4-inch tall off-white candle
  • 4 stems of the following flowers and foliages - purple lisanthus, 'leonides' roses, peach lilies, red spray roses, leather fern, variegated miniature pittosporum, seeded eucalyptus
  • 3 stems purple mums
  • Floral preservative, clippers and knife
Directions:
Step 1 - Soak the floral foam in water that has been treated with floral preservative for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2 - Cut the floral foam to fit inside of the cake pan. The foam should come up approximately 1/2-inch above the rim of the pan.

Step 3 - Set the candle in the center of the floral foam-filled pan.

Step 4 - Imagine the face of a clock: start with the greenery, which has been cut to approximately 5-inches in length. Place the hour and minute hands (the greenery) in the center of the imaginary clock, which is around the perimeter of the candle.

Step 5 - Arrange additional greenery at the quarter hours and fill in the remaining hours of the imaginary clock with more greenery.

Step 6 - Add the flowers. Follow the same procedure with the flowers as you did with the greenery. Cut the flowers slightly longer in length (about 6-inches).
