On The Air

In Search of a morning pick-me-up?
How about a bouquet of fresh flowers!

A behavioral research study conducted by Dr. Nancy Etcoff and her team at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital uncovered evidence that people feel least positive in the early hours, but reported being happier and more energetic after looking at flowers first thing in the morning.

See it to believe it...click on the link below to view a TV segment featuring Dr. Etcoff explaining how flowers placed in the home can increase overall wellbeing in the morning and throughout the day. Also, be sure to keep an eye out, as you may see the segment while watching TV this month and throughout 2008. The informative segment was distributed by the Flower Promotion Organization to over 1000 TV stations, including many network affiliates and cable stations across the country.

Here's a sample from the study of additional beneficial emotional effects flowers can provide:

  • People feel more compassionate towards others, have less worry and anxiety and feel less depressed when flowers are present in the home.
  • Flowers demonstrate a calming energy for those who want to achieve that effect at home or work.
  • There was also evidence that there is a carryover effect...people who had flowers in their homes felt more energized and compassionate in the workplace, too.
