| Cut Flowers Bring Cooling Freshness!
For the hottest part of summer, bring the cooling freshness of cut flowers into your home! Down play the warmer reds and yellows and find cooler colors like blues and whites and pinks. Whites show up later in the evening or in a darker room, so now is a great time to use them. Fragrant lilies grouped in 3's or 5's make an elegant statement and scented
atmosphere. Remove the anthers that hold pollen grains that can stain clothing yellow. It can extend their life a few days and avoid the possibility of staining clothing or the petals themselves. White carnations - especially minis' - are the budget flower gourmet's staple. Buy them in bunches with some greens. You could fill nearly every bud vase (if you have a handful) with some summer sprigs. Speaking of best buys- consider roses this time of year. They are most plentiful and least
expensive. Take advantage of the warm weather and abundant light that make roses bloom their best. White roses alone are romantic. Combine them with pink carnations and some greens. Any container is fair game - as long as it's non-metal. Think about crystal pitchers, glass bowls, or dainty ceramics as potential vases. If it can hold water, it could be a vase.
