White Fresh Cut Flowers Brighten Up The Winter Gloom And Add A Silver Elegance To The Holidays!

The time of year with the least amount of daylight almost demands that we keep fresh flowers around to "brighten up" our living spaces. My pick for the month is white, even if it does remind me of snow! White is bright in darker spaces and can really lighten up a dark morning or evening. Fill a vase with white lilies, carnations, or roses.

Silver and white are a striking combination, so find some antiques or newly-acquired silver items to use as vases. You can insert a plastic cup if you want to protect an antique from water. White mini-carnations in cobalt-blue or scarlet-red vases create a festive look. Even forest-green bowls can be used to float white orchids or chrysanthemums. Add some focus with a spotlight or increase the visual appeal by placing the vase on a mirror.
