Lilies are the fresh pick this month! Why, you ask? They remind me of April showers which bring May flowers. Turn that bell shaped flower upside-down (but only in your mind, not in the vase) and you'll see brightly colored umbrellas! Remove the anthers which contain pollen carefully with a tissue so you don't stain flowers or clothing. Recut stems under water before arranging. Both help keep lilies lasting longer. Yellow and purple, a great combination for spring, would be a striking combination in a silver or clear glass vase. Alone or in bunches, lilies will lift your spring spirits, even if it is raining outside.
